I know many of you are eager to know and understand our weekly routine in 5th Grade Language Arts. With a new reading series and the beginning of the new school year we are still trying to learn each other and the material. This is a rough sketch of our weekly routine, with a big disclaimer that it is subject to change!
Monday:
Simple Solutions lesson
Write spelling words in planner (each week students will be expected to complete two spelling and one vocabulary activity using their tic tac toe sheets, due every Thursday)
Introduce weekly vocabulary/skill/strategy
Read story
Complete 1st two pages of lesson in Reader's Notebook (assigned for homework if not complete
Tuesday:

Review vocabulary (using quizlet.)
Writer's Workshop (rough draft due Tuesday)
Buddy read for fluency as time allows
Wednesday:
(This is our stations day. My favorite because it allows for independent work, differentiation, reinforcement, and a time for me to work with small groups or individually as needed.)
Independent read with graphic organizer
Grammar
Word Study
Thursday:
Spelling due
Spelling test
Writers Workshop (rough draft due)
Friday:
Weekly assessment of story
Work on publishing good copy of writing assignment (if not complete in class, due Monday)
Make up work
